What is Matcha?

Matcha is a finely ground green tea powder with a rich history spanning centuries. Originally introduced in China and later perfected in Japan, it's now celebrated around the world for its vibrant colour, smooth flavour and mindful preparation. No two matchas taste the same, each has its own unique balance of sweetness, umami and earthy notes, shaped by where and how it's grown.

How do I prepare matcha?

It's simple!

  1. Sift 2-3 scoops (2-3g) with a chashaku of matcha into your chawan bowl.
  2. Add 40mL of warm water (70°C or 160°F).
  3. Whisk in a zig-zag "M" motion until a smooth microfoam forms. *make sure your bamboo whisk is bloomed ( soaked in warm water for 60secs ) before using.
  4. Enjoy as is, or pour over your favourite milk for a matcha latte and add sweetener of choice.
